Dr. Grant Moffat

Dr. Grant Moffat

Dr. Moffat is a general surgeon at Mississauga’s Credit Valley Hospital. After graduating from medicine at the University of Western Ontario, he completed his residency in General Surgery at McMaster University in 2001. He also studied at the Centre for Minimally Invasive Surgery at St. Joseph’s Health Centre, which is a world-renowned centre for advanced laparoscopic surgery.

Dr. Moffat routinely performs a variety of laparoscopic surgical procedures including splenectomies, colon resections and gastric surgery. His areas of interest are oncology and minimally invasive surgery. He is a member of the surgical education committee at Credit Valley Hospital and is actively involved in the surgical training of medical staff. He has served as a visiting professor at Saba medical school, Saba, Dutch Virgin Islands, has published in peer-reviewed journals, and is actively involved in research regarding treatment practices for cancer. He was voted Physician of the Year at Credit Valley Hospital for 2009 and was president of the Medical Staff Association through 2008 and 2009.

Dr. Moffat is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada, and a Fellow with the Ontario College of Physicians and Surgeons. He is a member of the Canadian Association of General Surgeons, the Ontario Association of General Surgeons, and is fully certified as a Laparoscopic Adjustable Gastric Banding surgeon.

Dr. Moffat is happily married and lives in Burlington, Ontario.


Dr. Vitaly Bard

B.Sc. (Hons.), MD, FRCS(C), FACS

Dr. Bard is a fellowship-trained general surgeon and a specialist in advanced laparoscopic surgery. He is a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, fellow of the American College of Surgeons, member of the Canadian Association of General Surgeons and a member of the Society of American Endoscopic Gastrointestinal Surgeons (SAGES).

Upon graduation from medical school at the University of Toronto in 1993, Dr. Bard completed a residency in General Surgery, also at University of Toronto, and a subsequent fellowship in Advanced Minimally Invasive Surgery at McMaster University.

Dr. Bard is currently Staff Surgeon at Credit Valley Hospital and Carlo Fidani Peel Regional Cancer Centre in Mississauga. He also maintains a full practice specializing in advanced laparoscopic surgery and surgical oncology. He has performed thousands of laparoscopic procedures including gallbladder removal, appendectomy, hiatus hernia repair (anti-reflux surgery), spleen removal, adrenalectomy and removal of colon and stomach cancers. He is fully certified as a Laparoscopic Adjustable Gastric Banding surgeon.

Dr. Bard has a well-deserved reputation as a skilled and meticulous surgeon who is consistently caring and compassionate in every facet of patient care.

Dr. Bard lives in Mississauga with his wife and three children. His interests include travel, music and coaching competitive gymnastics.


Dr. Neil Woolfson

MbBCh, FRCS(C)

Dr. Grant Moffat

Dr. Woolfson is a fellowship-trained general surgeon. He is a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and a member of the Ontario College of Physicians and Surgeons, the Ontario Association of General Surgery, the Canadian Association of General Surgeons and the Ontario Medical Association.

Dr. Woolfson obtained his medical degree from the University of the Witwatersrand in South Africa and did his residency at Hamilton’s McMaster University, completing his general surgery specialty training in 1995.

Laparoscopic surgery was just being introduced into Ontario when Dr. Woolfson started training at the renowned Centre for Minimally Invasive Surgery at St. Joseph’s Health Centre. Laparoscopic techniques and equipment have advanced significantly over the years, and so have Dr. Woolfson’s advanced laparoscopic surgical skills.

Dr. Woolfson has done thousands of laparoscopic procedures, including almost all the advanced laparoscopic procedures available to general surgeons. He is a fully certified Laparoscopic Adjustable Gastric Banding surgeon .

Dr. Woolfson is an active staff member at Credit Valley Hospital and the Carlo Fidani Peel Regional Cancer Centre. He regularly attends conferences and courses to maintain and update the knowledge and skills he needs to be a successful surgeon. He is currently the Chief of General Surgery at the Credit Valley Hospital.

Dr. Woolfson has been happily married for 20 years and has three children. He uses most of his leisure time training for long-distance triathlons; a few years ago, he competed in the gruelling Canadian Iron Man competition.


Heidi Nixdorf

BASc., RD, CNSD

Heidi currently practices as a critical care dietitian and Professional Practice Liason at the Credit Valley Hospital in Mississauga.

Heidi graduated with a Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Human Nutrition from the University of Guelph and completed a dietetic internship at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre in Toronto.

Heidi‘s extensive knowledge of evidence-based nutritional therapy includes weight management , surgical nutrition and specialized nutrition support for critically ill patients,  She is especially passionate about nutrition for active lifestyles and has worked with several running/cycling groups as well as individual athletes.   

Heidi is a member of the College of Dietitians of Ontario, Dietitians of Canada, and the American Society of Enteral and Parenteral Nutrition.

Heidi lives in Halton Hills and can most often be found riding her mountain bike somewhere along the Niagara Escarpment.


Nada Lukic

B.Sc. (Hons.), RD

Nada currently practices as a surgical dietitian at the Credit Valley Hospital and is a supervisor of the hospital’s Clinical Nutrition Services.

Nada holds science degrees from McMaster and University of Guelph, majoring in Biochemistry and Human Nutrition .She completed a graduate dietetic internship at St.Michael’s Hospital in Toronto.

Nada has extensive background in all aspects of nutrition therapy, specializing in surgical nutrition, weight management, education and training of dietetic interns, as well as management of clinical nutrition resources. She is passionate about promoting   sound nutrition practice which is supported by evidence based health care knowledge.

She is a member of the College of Dietitians of Ontario, Dietitians of Canada, American Society of Enteral and Parenteral Nutrition, and Clinical Nutrition Leadership Forum.

Nada lives in Mississauga with her husband and three children. Her interests include opera, gardening and tennis.


Isolde Spies

BA (HMSc), Hons Sport Science, MAAESS

Isolde is a qualified Exercise Physiologist. She has worked as a Personal Trainer (PT) and Exercise Physiologist in South Africa, United Kingdom and Australia.

She was a National Level Gymnasts and has also completed many endurance events including; Marathons, Ultra Marathons, Cycling Races and Triathlons.

Isolde specializes in both cardiovascular and resistance training programs. She has experience working with a broad range of clients from patients that are morbidly obese suffering from chronic disease (incl. High BP, High Cholesterol, Heart conditions and Diabetes) to elite runners, gymnasts, tennis players, rugby players, divers, triathletes, swimmers and cyclists.

She develops personal training programs to suit your specific health and fitness needs. The objective being to keep you motivated and able to reach your goals as well as helping you to find an activity that you enjoy and can continue throughout your lifetime. Data will be collected on a regular basis to track your progress. Programs and exercises will also be modified and updated in line with your progress and needs.

Working with an exercise physiologist will ensure that you exercise with proper form and technique. This will maximize your effort and minimize the risk of injury. Studies have shown that people who work with an Exercise Physiologist will achieve up to 80% better results three times faster than on their own.

Exercise appointments will help you to make time for your workouts in your busy schedule and stay committed to your goals. Ultimately keeping you motivated and on track to feeling and being healthier.
